David Gibbs & Associates have been practising law and helping people within the Hastings community and the broader Mornington Peninsula for over 30 years.
David opened the doors to DG&A in Victoria Street, Hastings just after Easter 1980. As a young articled clerk David had been working in Frankston when he lost his job due to a practice downsizing. His employers, however, encourage him to consider opening his own practice. With the philosophy that you can’t know if you’ll be successful unless you try, David decided to try. He began with just himself and a typist, and called the business David Gibbs and Associates so he could write his letters with the pronoun ‘we’ rather than ‘I’. But it wasn’t long before he was hiring more and more staff, taking over more shop space in Victoria Street and finally in 1987 moving to the current purpose-built offices at the end of High Street, with its foreshore outlook.
Today, David Gibbs & Associates is a strong and well respected Mornington Peninsula legal firm, helping people from all sorts of backgrounds and all types of businesses with a full range of issues. From mediating localised disputes, to full Supreme Court trials, from negotiations within a partnership to negotiations within multi-million dollar companies, from a one-meeting resolution to cases we work on for years before achieving resolution, from writing wills to significant family law appeals that have set precedents: we’ve done it all. Not only that, but we enjoy it all.
